One out of every two Mobistar employees teleworks!

Brussels, 6 December 2012 - Mobistar is actively participating in the second 'National Homeworking Day' on December 8th. In fact, Mobistar has been a pioneer where teleworking is concerned: ever since the project began in 2008, there was an ever-accelerating growth in the number of its employees who regularly work from a distance. Today, one out of every two ‘Team Members’ works at home on a regular basis.

Mobistar not only offers mobility solutions for teleworking to its customers - it also makes intensive use of these possibilities itself. This new way of working has been promoted among its employees since 2008. All employees who do not have facial contact with customers – about 1100 out of a total of 1780 – are eligible for teleworking. Today 920 employees, including members of the executive committee, make regular use of this possibility. Ultimately, Mobistar would like to see all of its employees eligible for this new way of working.

Teleworking is not only rooted in Mobistar´s DNA, it also forms an integral part of the company´s CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) strategy.  Mobistar offers its employees a better ‘work-life balance’ because they are empowered to decide for themselves where and when they do their work. Teleworking contributes to increased mobility and thus to a greener environment as well. Mobistar is reducing its CO2 emissions by 3.3 % per day for 800 employees who telework. Offering this innovative way of working to the new recruits also makes Mobistar an attractive employer on the job market.  And last but not least, through the combination of teleworking and ‘flex desking’ (use of the same workstation by several people), Mobistar has reduced the amount of office space it requires by 10,000 m².

Mobistar wants to continue playing an active role in opening minds to new ways of working. In the run-up to the 'National Homeworking Day' an internal promotional campaign was conducted to encourage employees to participate.
