At an official ceremony that took place this Wednesday at the European Parliament in Brussels, Mobistar and the France Telecom-Orange group were awarded the Gender Equality - European Standard (for equality between men and women in the workplace). Created by the Arborus Fund, this label is the first European standard for workplace equality. The aim of the “Gender Equality European Standard” is to create throughout Europe a common culture which seeks to promote male/female equality at work.

The FT group took the initiative of presenting its candidature for the GEES label. To this end, Mobistar was in February 2011 the subject of an audit that looked at 6 criteria:

  1. specific initiatives towards gender equality
  2. social dialogue on gender equality
  3. awareness raising and/or training of HR department and managers
  4. initiatives to promote a mix of profiles in functions at all levels
  5. ‘employee practices’
  6. measures to enhance work/life balance.

Mobistar obtained a good score and therefore was awarded the GEES label.
Our best scores were:

  • 3 points, the maximum available, for work/life balance thanks to initiatives to promote teleworking and flexible working hours
  • 2 points for ‘employee practices’ thanks to, among others, the Mobikids scheme
  • 2 points for social dialogue, thanks to, among other things, the annual report on male/female equality.

For Mobistar, this GEES label is the first recognition of its CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) ambitions to see 35 % of functions, at all levels, occupied by women by 2015.
