Genk, 24 January 2014 – Royal Racing Club Genk (KRC Genk) and Mobistar have today announced their cooperation for the season 2014 - 2015. Mobistar and KRC Genk have already worked together in the past, but are now substantially intensifying their cooperation.

“We are very satisfied with this renewed partnership and very proud to be able to support a leading club like KRC Genk. We have worked together in the past, but that was indirectly with common partners. We now have the opportunity to come to the fore, which we are very happy about,” Mobistar CEO Jean Marc Harion says. “KRC Genk is known as a close-knit family club with strong core principles and values that are fully consistent with Mobistar’s. Over the past 15 years, KRC Genk has also become a very successful club with the ambition, organisation and talent to stay at the top.”

“Mobistar’s main aim for this partnership is to further develop its brand recognition and implement targeted campaigns and new services. By meeting customers’ expectations and needs faster, Mobistar wants to give people even more reason to come and stay with Mobistar. The means of communication KRC Genk offers us in this respect fit in perfectly with our strategy,” Jean Marc Harion adds.
To strengthen the relationship with its business partners and associates, Mobistar will also be able to use the Cristal Arena’s wide range of hospitality facilities. As the third largest economic centre in Flanders, Genk is the ideal place to intensify and develop relationships with professional customers in the region.

“KRC Genk is very pleased with Mobistar’s prominent presence at the Cristal Arena, which will become apparent as early as this weekend. The (LED) boarding, 3D mats and presence of various media channels in the press will certainly grab the attention of the fans in the arena,” KRC Genk Commercial Director Stephan Poelmans says.

“KRC Genk is satisfied with its agreement with Mobistar, which will last at least 1.5 years. Both parties have plenty of common ground. We are both challengers in our domains and we also share a similar vision and values,” Stephan Poelmans clarifies. “As a non-polarising club, KRC Genk ensures a great sense of community, presented opportunities, an openness to diversity and a constant striving to improve. That is exactly why we get on so well with Mobistar.”

About KRC Genk

KRC Genk was founded in 1988 following the merger of KFC Winterslag and Thor Waterschei. After a difficult start, the club steadily established itself at the top of Belgian football. This is illustrated by the three titles and four cups it won over the past 15 years. With three consecutive entries in the European pools, the club has also slowly but surely gained international sports fame. The club is equally appreciated in areas beyond its sporting achievements. The European Club Association (ECA) has recently presented KRC Genk with an award for the ‘Best Community & Social Responsibility Programme’, for example. For more information, visit www.krcgenk.be
