Orange Belgium cares for people, valuing diversity & inclusion highly and putting those values at the heart of the company. As a resilient, modern and responsible operator with strong human and ESG values, a key pillar of its ‘Lead the Future’ strategy, Orange Belgium will be an official partner of Team Belgium for the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024.
Next year, Paris will host the world's biggest events in sport: the Olympic Games from 26 July to 11 August and Paralympic Games from 28 August to 8 September. Eight months prior, Orange Belgium is proud to announce that it becomes an official partner of Team Belgium, supporting the Olympic athletes in their preparation for and participation in the games. This partnership is aligned with the operator’s ‘Lead the Future’ strategy, being a resilient and responsible company with strong environmental, social and governance values.
Sharing common values
The Belgian Olympic and Interfederal Committee (BOIC) selects Belgium’s top athletes and sends them to the Olympic Games in optimal conditions so that they can perform to the best of their abilities. They also aim to educate youth through sports without discrimination and in the spirit of the three Olympic values: excellence, friendship, and respect.
These values are in sync with Orange Belgium's three strategic ‘Lead the Future’ pillars: connecting people thanks to an outstanding multi-gigabit networks leadership, maintaining a premium relationship with customers to provide customer experience excellence, and caring for people with a vision of digital inclusion and diversity. Orange Belgium and the BOIC also share a common commitment to the circular economy and sustainability for a better world. The Olympics are one of the most ethical and sustainable events in sports; Orange Belgium adopts a future proof ESG enterprise model and commits itself to a Net Zero Carbon status by 2040.
When everything is connected, we are all connected
For Orange Belgium, as official telco partner of Team Belgium, the Olympic Games are a unique opportunity to demonstrate its ability to innovate and connect everywhere. Indeed, ‘connection’ is at the very core of this new partnership: sport connects people and Orange connects people to sport. The operator will rally all Belgian fans behind our national athletes before and during Paris 2024, by putting digital technology at the service of everyone, enabling people of all ages to share their emotions and go beyond the event.
”Through this partnership, Orange Belgium demonstrates in concrete terms how it is meeting the three pillars of its Lead the Future strategy. We aim for an outstanding multi-gigabit network leadership that connects people to each other and the Games, creating an excellent customer experience while promoting diversity and inclusion as main values. We aim to make every sporting event inclusive for all - general public, professionals and institutions - so that everyone can access it where they want, how they want and when they want”, explains Xavier Pichon, Chief Executive Officer at Orange Belgium.
“The BOIC is delighted to welcome Orange Belgium as official partner of Team Belgium. With Orange Belgium, one of the biggest players in the Belgian telecommunications market, Team Belgium can now count on the support of a powerful partner on the road to Paris. As in sport, Orange Belgium makes it easy for people to connect. What is more, their commitment to the circular economy and sustainability aligns closely with the goals of the Olympic Movement: to contribute to a better world through sport. I therefore welcome Orange Belgium and look forward to a fruitful collaboration!”, adds Cédric Van Branteghem, CEO of the BOIC.
About the Belgian Olympic and Interfederal Committee
The Belgian Olympic and Interfederal Committee (BOIC) is one of 206 National Olympic Committees worldwide. By significantly increasing the number of Belgian athletes in the world top (Top 8) at the Olympic Games, the BOIC wants to contribute to the image of a successful country and share this success with everyone. It does so in close cooperation with the Flemish Community, the French Community and the German-speaking Community and its sports administrations.
The BOIC selects the athletes of Team Belgium for the Olympic Games and numerous other international multisport competitions. Its mission is to send Belgium's top athletes to these competitions in optimal conditions so that they can perform to the best of their abilities. That is why the BOIC is constantly working to create a 'Top Sport Climate' in Belgium. This strengthens the country's image and contributes to a more active and healthier population.
The BOIC supports 83 national sport federations, its members, in their activities. These sports federations represent more than 24,000 Belgian sports clubs and more than 2.2 million club members.
The Olympic values - friendship, excellence and respect - are the cornerstone of the BOIC's activities. They play a central role in all aspects of our operations.
