First realisation after cooperation agreement with Telenet
Brussels, 3 October 2006 - Mobistar is expanding its Business Everywhere offer for the professional market further with WiFi. As a result data connections and data traffic are possible as of now via the GPRS/EDGE and UMTS/HSDPA mobile networks, the ADSL fixed network and via more than 14,200 WiFi hotspots in Belgium and abroad. The launch of WiFi via a tariff plan is the first concrete realisation of the cooperation agreement that Mobistar concluded with Telenet at the beginning of this year.
For Mobistar business customers data traffic is as of now also possible via WiFi. In this way the telecom operator is responding to the ever increasing demand for solutions that enable mobile work. "Today one person out of three is a mobile worker. A study by Gartner has shown that this will increase to one person out of two. Thanks to this extended range of total solutions Mobistar customers will benefit from maximum comfort in terms of data traffic. In addition Business Everywhere enables only one single person of contact and a single invoice. We strive to continuously optimise and professionalise our services for the professional market," states Bernard Moschéni, Chief Executive Officer of Mobistar.
Business Everywhere (BE) offers multiple access for data connections and works via software that always selects the best available network wherever the user is located. Data customers of Mobistar (Optima or Max) can add WiFi as an option to the existing BE package. The WiFi option is activated after subscription. Ten hours of data traffic via WiFi costs EUR 10 per month, whether you are in Belgium or in countries where Mobistar concluded WiFi agreements. The WiFi option is free of charge until the end of December 2006.
The new WiFi offering and the use of the WiFi hotspots via a tariff plan for Mobistar customers is the first concrete realisation to originate from the cooperation agreement with Telenet. "Mobistar has the largest offering of hotspots in Belgium (1,200), France (13,000), the United Kingdom (50) and Luxemburg (30). Roughly 1,200 Belgian hotspots are available to us thanks to the partnership with Telenet," adds Bernard Moschéni.
