Mobistar and KPN Group Belgium (BASE) have announced a collaboration agreement to jointly expand their mobile telecommunication networks. This agreement will have a positive impact on network coverage in view of new environmental standards.

Mobistar and KPN Group Belgium (BASE n.v.) have signed an agreement to jointly acquire and build new sites for their respective mobile telecommunication networks. The collaboration concerns the sharing of pylons, masts, cables, utilities, safety precautions and transmission systems. Sharing of the radio-infrastructure does not fall under the agreement. The operators will operate the shared sites on their own account.

This type of collaboration agreement is very much encouraged by European and national policymakers, benefits the telecommunication industry and end users and will allow more efficient investments in infrastructure. This collaboration will result in a more rapid deployment of mobile telecommunication networks and better services for the customers of both operators. The shared use of network sites will result in better network and reduce the ecological footprint of the operators.

Both Mobistar and BASE invite other operators to join their initiative
