Partnerships
A strategy of partnerships
To increase its mobile telephony market share, Mobistar decided to conclude partnership agreements with mobile virtual network operators (MVNO´s) and other players interested in launching themselves in mobile telephony.
In 2009 Mobistar continued this policy with extended contracts with its partners Telenet and Euphony, and signed agreements with Lycamobile, Transatel and Pumbby.
In 2010 Mobistar and Tellink announced a partnership agreement.

Partnership with TelenetTelenet and Mobistar announced their cooperation agreement in February 2006. This partnership enables the two operators to expand their commercial offer. Telenet decided firstly to develop its own mobile telephony offer, based on Mobistar´s infrastructure and expertise. Secondly, this agreement bore on the use of Telenet´s WiFi network, given that these WiFi hotspots open up interesting prospects for convergence within the framework of the « mobile data » activities developed by Mobistar and based on the EDGE and UMTS technologies. This agreement also gives Mobistar the possibility of strengthening its competitive position in Flanders. |
Partnership with LycamobileIn April 2007, a new agreement was signed with Lycamobile, Lycatel´s pioneer brand with regard to international traffic for mobile telephony. The company Lycatel has more than 7 million pan-European users who generate more than 1.4 billion minutes of voice traffic per month. European leader in the market of prepaid telephone cards for international telecommunications, Lycamobile focuses primarily on foreigners residing in Belgium who wish to communicate with friends and family in their country of origin. By using the Mobistar network, Lycamobile proposes a specific offer and a customer service which is tailored to this target group via more than 1,000 points of sale in Belgium. |
